Eighteen Years
by Kira Rodriguez You looked down at me with such gentle eyes, Your big, brown eyes filled with such love, As you rested on your grandmother’s couch, A place holding so many memories. It was my first and most cherished moment. Even though I don’t remember the details, I remember the love of your gentle embrace As you held me close, our heartbeats in sync. I, so small, and your hands, so large. Your tattoos and earrings, a symbol of the past, The boy you used to be and the man

A ‘miracle’ for Johnny Hockey
By: Andrew Nowel, Sports Layout Editor 46 years ago, the U.S. won the greatest game of hockey ever played in U.S. history, but all those years later, one moment stood out from the rest as the U.S. men’s ice hockey team celebrated their third-ever gold medal at the Olympics. The kids of Johnny Gaudreau were brought onto the ice to celebrate a win not just for a country, but for a family. Gaudreau was born in 1993 and quickly showed why he was a natural hockey player. Mission 100 days: Getting busy living
By: Peter Neville, Assistant Sports Editor As I sat down to write the story of my time at Canisius, I struggled with where to start. Although I started here in 2022, I feel like I have been at Canisius my entire life. I am the fourth person in my family to attend this school, following my mom, dad and my older sister, Rose, and without their influence, I do not think that I would have ultimately ended up picking their alma mater. My mom and older sister have really been with

The Griffin Editorial: On Canisius’ Ice Connection
After the publication of the article, “New Public Safety Contractor Connected to [Local] ICE Violence,” it has come to the attention of The Griffin staff that many students felt that the severity of the topic was downplayed. Some criticized the lack of a clear stance on this connection to a very controversial and polarizing issue, however, there is an ethical commitment to present the news objectively. The Griffin ’s intention in writing that article was to report on the sit

Is Sabrina Carpenter Really a Representation of Feminism?
By: Lily McMenemy, Assistant Opinion & Layout Editor This Valentine’s season, who better to talk about than everyone’s favorite pastel loving, baby doll, short-n-sweetheart, Sabrina Carpenter? Appearing with perfect blonde bangs, bold blush, in baby blue and belting, the star has quickly branded herself with a unique style that pulls from vintage allure and modern coquette culture. Erotic lyrics and suggestive dance styles have allowed her to bring new meaning to the term “be

Oh, Honey - Valentine's Day Woes
Oh, you lovely Honeys, I hope you all had a wonderful Super Bowl weekend! I know I sure did, and I am beyond happy to not only keep my beard but also to answer more of your wonderful questions! This weekend, I got a lot of submissions (love you all so much for that, by the way, mwah), which made me curious about why I was getting so much traction. I mean, I know I am smart and have the answers to basically any question, and then I remembered what day it is this week: Valentin

The Only Thing More Powerful Than Hate Is Love
By: Paige Apps, Contributor Super Bowl LX took place in San Francisco this past Sunday, and with it brought another very controversial music event: the halftime show. Bad Bunny’s performance this year was controversial for many reasons. Some people didn’t like the fact that the performer was only speaking Spanish and “wasn’t American.” News flash people, Puerto Rico is in fact an American territory. Also, there have been plenty of performers in the past that haven’t been Ame

How Animals Love
By: Julia Tufan, Contributor Humans are not the only species that have feelings, make bonds or even show affection. Though science used to state that humans were the only species that were capable of thoughts and feelings, we now know that that is not quite true, as countless animals have proven that wrong. Animals do have thoughts and feelings and are in fact capable of forming bonds with one another. It is easy for us to think about dogs or cats forming bonds with us as the

Love is in the Air
By: Hakim Mosegi To Remy and Anne Marie, They say that "X" marks the spot where two lives have crossed each other for the right reasons, and looking at both of you two today, it is clear that no writer's hand could've scripted such a bond this pure. You've spent years weaving a heart-shaped knot through the flow of time, showing that love is a choice made by people, whether mutant or not. You both came to the X-Men with secrets and "theft" in your veins: one stealing hearts
