Wait, he named that lake after what?

It is no secret that President Trump loves extravagance and being at the forefront of global attention, but there is something particularly interesting about his naming conventions. Whether it’s the “Gulf of America”, the “Trump Kennedy Center” or now “Lake America”, Trump has made a name (no pun intended) for himself by renaming everything he can after America or again, after himself. It's an interesting way to attempt to exert power and to gain support from his base, but in almost every scenario it has received severe backlash and global scrutiny.

Trump’s most notable recent act has been using an executive order to rename Lake Ontario to “Lake America”, a bold decision that most likely stems from the rapidly growing trade war between the United States and its former trade partner, Canada. However, this executive order only changed the name on maps in the United States, and it did not turn out to be the power move that it was designed to be. While Google and Apple have already changed Lake Ontario to “Lake America” on American devices, other companies such as Map Quest have gained popularity for refusing to do so.

While President Trump has attempted to change the names of these landmarks (or are they watermarks?) and buildings for whatever reason, it hasn’t gained the traction that he and his cabinet may be hoping for, and I don’t think the names ever will.
