The men’s basketball team will be carefully watching the MAAC scoreboards this weekend, looking for help from Niagara to keep their chances of making the MAAC Basketball Championship in jeopardy of sinking to zero.
Canisius and Niagara both face Iona and Manhattan this weekend, currently the eighth and ninth teams in the MAAC standings. If the Griffs and Purple Eagles each drop both games, along with tenth-seed Sacred Heart sweeping their weekend against two-seed Saint Peter’s and 13th-seed Rider, Canisius is eliminated from playoff contention. With the Griffs on the edge of their seat, every layup, free throw, block or steal will make or break the playoff hopes for Canisius.
