The Griffs hockey team is preparing to take on the AHA’s third-place Holy Cross Crusaders this weekend. Every game is critical with the end of the season around the corner.
The Griffs are 9–9–2 in conference play, coming off a weekend where the team was swept by Robert Morris. Meanwhile, the Crusaders are 11–7–2 after splitting their series with the first-place Bentley Falcons.
Griffs captain Oliver Tarr explained that, “Last weekend was not our best effort, we need to learn from it fast and regroup for this coming weekend…We worked a lot this week on getting pucks and bodies to the net to create more second-chance scoring opportunities.” The team is dedicated to doing a lot during the week to make sure that they stay focused on the goal of winning a championship together.
Canisius recognizes the talent of the Crusaders and is making sure to prepare for their competition this weekend. Tarr says, “we know that they are a good team this year but so are we. Focusing on getting back to our brand of hockey and controlling what we can control will give us the best opportunity to win this weekend.”
The teams will play at LECOM Harborcenter this weekend on Friday and Saturday, with Canisius looking for their first win against the Crusaders since 2023.
