On Friday, Nov. 14, the second-to-last meeting of the United Student Association (USA) met for a shortened Senate session because they hosted Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion Fatima Rodriguez-Johnson, MS to deliver the senate’s yearly anti-racism training. Following their discussion with Rodriguez-Johnson, the agenda opened up to general student concerns, to which there were none. The senate then moved into executive reports.

President DeGlopper announced that she is currently working with Mark Piatkowski of Student Life and Joe Snodgrass of Facilities to assess the bathroom shower situation and they are actively working on a solution which will most likely occur over winter break. She is also working on a long-term plan for the utilization of the upper fitness center space of the Palisano Fitness Center. EVP Mulenga gave updates about the upcoming senate bonding session at the basketball game. VPBF Peters announced that the first finance board had met, and it went very well, and she is excited for what they will do. VPMR Akil updated the senate about Instagram takeover rules.

Next up were cabinet reports. Diversity Chair Remacle-Grimm reported that the Diversity Committee hosted their first two events, a Native American tabling information event on Nov. 13, which was successful. The second was held on Nov. 19 regarding student dietary restrictions and it was held in the library, also successful. Sustainability Chair Stephens updated the senate that any donations for Griffs Thrifts can be received in a box outside the store, with other locations pending. Also, the Level the Playing Field (LPF) drive is still ongoing; they need more donations as well and the bin is inside the Koessler Athletic Center.

Liaison reports followed with Facilities/ITS Liaison Firkowski updating that Tom Prince from ITS is no longer employed by Canisius. Public Safety Liaison Hajdini announced that with the recent snow, Campus Safety is trying to find ways to regulate parking more efficiently while also reminding people that the same rules apply with permits regardless of weather. Other than that, basketball is going smoothly and Campus Safety would like more students to start going to the games. There was no new business, structured discussion or open discussion, and the senate adjourned. The last senate meeting of the semester will be Friday, Nov. 21 at 2:30 p.m. in Grupp.
