In his final collegiate cross country race, senior Kyle Urban put a stamp on the fall season with his 44th-place finish at the 2025 Northeast Regionals in Hopkinton, N.H.

The Alden, N.Y. native’s time of 30:26.7 marks the program’s fastest 10K time at NCAA regionals. His 44th-place finish also marks the seventh-best finish in program history. Urban’s performance was also an improvement of nearly two minutes from last year's performance where he placed 115th (32:12.5).

Six other runners participated in the race for the Blue and Gold, with freshman Daniel Granville and sophomores Nathaniel Fisher, Fenway Breckles and Adam Kozman making their regionals debut, while seniors Brody Jones and Joseph Pivarunas returned for their final cross country race.

Both Fisher and Jones finished in the top-200 of racers, with Fisher placing 154th (31:49.7) and Jones finishing just half a minute behind him in 187th (32:19.4). Rounding out the scorers for the Griffs were Granville and Breckels, who placed just four spots from each other in 216th and 220th, respectively.

As a team, the Canisius men placed 31st with a total of 805 points. The Blue and Gold fared well against other MAAC opponents, finishing ahead of Fairfield, Merrimack, Quinnipiac, Sacred Heart and local rival Niagara.

In the men’s 10K, Hofstra freshman and Coastal Athletic Conference champion Fredrick Kipkosgei won the individual title with a time of 29:12.7. Syracuse took top team honors with 32 points, placing runners in the top-10. MAAC champions Iona placed second overall (95), while the Gaels’ MAAC individual champion Matt Rankin placed 13th.

On the women’s side, the Golden Griffins entered two runners, sending juniors Ella Herman and Mia Servis to compete in their first Northeast Regional. In the 6K event, Herman placed 244th with a time of 24:35.1, while Servis finished six spots back in 251st with a time of 26:21.5.

Army West Point athlete and Patriot League individual champion Charlotte Richman claimed the women’s individual title in a time of 19:52.8, just edging out Boston College’s Imogen

Gardiner by 1.0 seconds. However, it was Boston College which snagged the team title with 60 points.

The Griffs will now enjoy some much needed rest until their indoor track and field season begins in the spring semester.
