Let There Be Light International (LTBLI) is a non-profit organization focused on making solar energy more accessible to those living without light in Africa. They do this, as well as fighting climate change and poverty, through creative events to raise money and awareness.

On Wednesday, Nov 16 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in Regis, the Phi Sigma Sigma sorority and the Student Programming Board (SPB) will be hosting an event in collaboration with LTBLI!

This event is called “Shine on Students: Dance the Lights out for Energy Poverty.” It will be a casual dance for the whole Canisius community to enjoy music, food provided by Frank’s Hot Dogs and a prize wheel where you can win merchandise from the organization. The dance will be completely lit using solar lights provided by LTBLI as well!

“Shine on Students: Dance the Lights out for Energy Poverty” is a philanthropic pursuit by Phi Sigma Sigma, so donations are highly appreciated and encouraged, but not at all expected, so you donate what you can! The cost of lighting one home in Africa is only $15, so any size donation gets them that much closer to helping those in need. You can also donate to the organization via Venmo at the event.

The Student Programming Board as well as the members of Phi Sigma Sigma are both very excited to present and participate in this event for a great cause! Let There Be Light International is located in Buffalo, New York and is a big part of our community; please consider showing out and shining on at this event on Wednesday.
