The seasons are changing, and it’s not just summer to fall

Today and tomorrow are two very big days on the astrological calendar. Today, Sept. 22, is the last day of Virgo season. This doesn’t mean that every single Virgo that we know will automatically fall off the face of the earth. An astrological season means that the sun is “in” the sign that the season is named for, and the traits unique to that season are amplified within us all during the season. During Virgo season, we all experience an increase in highly analytical behavior, perfectionism and strong opinions (which is incredible to know after we left Mercury retrograde).

This also doesn’t mean that since Virgo season has ended, we will lose our sense of analysis, perfectionism and stubbornness. Those traits will still exist within us, but the next sign’s traits will be more amplified soon. The zodiac chart is divided by the four elements, and Virgo is an Earth sign. This means that there is more of a sense of groundedness during an Earth zodiac season.

Starting tomorrow, Sept. 23 at about 5:30 p.m., we’ll be entering Libra season. People can expect an atmosphere of fair-mindedness, harmony and increased sociability. Libra is an Air sign, which entails agility in communication and relationships. This season also allows you to see situations — past and present — with a different perspective. If you typically look at situations firmly in your opinions, you might experience a tendency to revisit certain views you’ve cemented in your brain. People who tend to be more emotionally driven might experience more clarity due to Libra season.

Speaking of Libras, I thought I’d pass this information on to the masses: The reason why Libra’s symbol is a scale is that for the Romans, it’s the day when day and night are the same amount of time. It’s by no coincidence that the first day of Libra is the Autumnal Equinox. It is said that from Aries season to Virgo season (March to September), we’re more focused on our personal lives, and that from Libra season to Pisces season (September to March) we’re more focused on expansion beyond the self. This means that it is an exciting time for people to attempt to grow outside of their shells and look into new creative outlets for themselves.

All in all, the changing of the seasons is a wonderful time for growth, change and self rediscovery. There’s nothing like a nice fall breeze to help us realize some new passions and possibilities for the betterment of ourselves.
