The Car

Yesterday we sold the car

I scrubbed the memories

from the seats with bleach

Tossed out the broken CD’s

we left on repeat

I’m totaled

A wreck

All the money

on repairs

I spent

All the mileage we acquired

All the sweat we bled, steamy

windshields perspired

All gone now

at the junkyard

smashed

Crushed

and scrapped

Bought a new car today

said I’d never drive again

Relapsed
