Anonymous is sitting staring at the blank document, wondering what to write. That blinking cursor pisses them off. Because last time they wrote something profound. Something that meant something. And now they have to top that. Because progress isn't linear, but their talent has to be. Because if they are not great, they’ll be forgotten. Anonymous sits with their head in the clouds, dreaming about mattering to someone. Because Kafka would’ve disappeared if he didn’t have a true friend. Because Charlotte helped Emily and Elizabeth because she didn’t want all the credit. Who would take credit for someone else’s art like that? Anonymous is finally typing now, fully aware this poem sucks. Yeah, it’s REALLY not great. They know that. But if they tried anything else, it would be worse. So at least your mind is entertained by their mediocrity. Anonymous wants to be good. Anonymous wants to be better. Only the best artists are remembered. They want to make you feel something because at least then they touched someone’s heart. Anonymous writes because they have to. They feel out of control if they don’t. They are running out of time. They want to write something so amazing that you feel something while reading it. They just want you to feel as important as you are. No one deserves to feel unimportant. Except that Anonymous doesn't know how to make you feel important. But they hope that by writing about their terrible writing, you'll realize that you’re less alone. That you don’t have to be good at everything. You are as talented as you seem. You’re strong, incredible even. You impact others. They remember you. Unless you’re Anonymous.
