Frightworld, America’s Screampark

By Hannah Iqbal, Assistant Features Editor

Are you looking for a spooky activity to partake in this October? Do you enjoy the thrill of getting scared? Do you love taking part in Halloween festivities? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then Frightworld, America’s Screampark is the place for you! Located on 1001 Hertel Ave., Frightworld serves as one of the most popular haunted attractions in Buffalo.

Frightworld is open on select days of the week that vary throughout the months of October and the first week of November. A full calendar is available on Frightworld’s website. Nonetheless, their consistent hours of operation include Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 12 a.m., Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 12 a.m. and Sunday from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Sunday hours are extended one hour on Halloween for Frightworld to remain open until 11 p.m. Keep in mind that Fridays and Saturdays tend to be busy days of the week, although wait times are not usually excessive.

Each year, Frightworld goes above and beyond to give customers a scare worth their money. Within Frightworld, there are five separate haunted houses. Each haunted house has a different theme: Eeriepalooza Fear Festival, Nightstalkers Reloaded, Eerie State Asylum, Grindhouse and Insanity. Among the five haunted houses, there usually ends up being one that seems scarier than the rest. According to local media coverage, Eerie State Asylum takes the cake. When walking through this attraction, visitors are greeted by countless patients that have undergone “severe mistreatment” and are looking for some human interaction. Without giving away any spoilers, customers should be ready for lots of screaming and chasing!

Tickets can either be purchased beforehand at frightworld.com or at the door. There are two ticket options available: general admission or the VIP Frightpass. General admission costs $35 and offers access to all five of the haunted houses. On the other hand, the VIP Frightpass costs $50 and allows people to skip the lines to all five haunted attractions. With there only being a $15 difference between the two options, purchasing the VIP Frightpass is an easy choice. But wait — there’s more! There are $3 discount coupons available at any one of Frightworld’s sponsor locations including Mighty Taco, Party City, Just Pizza, Burger King, Spot Coffee, Crunch Gym and Escape City. These coupons are not valid on Saturdays or any special events.

Frightworld is a great place for those who want to enjoy a frightening, yet fun activity this fall. Upon arrival, guests are greeted with a haunting atmosphere that sends chills down the spine. Each of the five haunted houses’ unique horrific theme is sure to make visitors feel on edge. To make sure you don’t miss out on a memorable experience, be sure to get your tickets and attend Frightworld, America’s Screampark this year!
