"What are the most overrated Buffalo staples?"
Ava: I know this is a hot take, but Tim’s is highly overrated. Listen, I still love and crave it every morning, but I long for Dunkin’ and “Starbies” much more carnally. When I need some burnt Starbucks coffee or a stale bagel from Dunkin’, Timmy Ho’s just does not hit the spot.
Liz: Bro… Buff State, Bryant & Stratton College, Villa Maria College, Medaille, Trocaire College, University at Buffalo, Daemen University, Niagara CCC, Hilbert College and ESPECIALLY Niagara University are overrated. Or, depending on the day… CANISIUS.
Sara: I might be a little biased because I’m from Massachusetts, but I’m going to have to agree with Ava here. Tim’s is good, don’t get me wrong, but it doesn’t satisfy me the way that Dunkin’ and Starbucks do. I will say the food, especially the steak and cheddar is pretty good and I find myself craving it every so often. But as an iced coffee enthusiast, it falls so utterly short when compared to Dunkin’ and Starbucks, especially Dunkin’.
Sophie: What I find overrated about Buffalo is the Sabres NHL team. This might upset a lot of people, but it’s my opinion. As a WNY native, I never got into hockey. I’m just not a fan of the sport. Forgive me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure the Sabres weren’t even good this year. Buffalonians go cuckoo for hockey and I never understood why.
Maddy: Don’t slaughter me for this one: some Bills tailgates are overhyped! Personally, I have been to a lot of Bills games in my day, and being the daughter of a man who requires that we be at every home game before 8 a.m. I have spent a lot of time in the Bills’ parking lot. Honestly, it's a mix of some of my least favorite things: wind, sub freezing temperatures and drunk people before 9 a.m. Don’t get me wrong, eating some interesting and questionable food from other random Bills fans is fun, but I could go without the horrid mix that is a Bills tailgate at the crack of dawn.
Jon: I agree with Ava and Sara that Tim’s is overrated. I’d go as far to say that it sucks. But for me what takes the crown as the most overrated feature of Buffalo is chicken wings. Now, let me explain. Chicken wings are the elite of the elite — I could eat hundreds! — but there seems to be a universal opinion that it is the best food to come from Buffalo, and that is the claim I seek to refute. The best Buffalo food is pizza logs: they blow wings out of the water.
Sydney: Maybe because I’m not from Buffalo I’m uncultured on topic, but I agree with Ava, Sara and Jon. I firmly believe that Tim’s is overhyped. Personally, I don’t know if any coffee chain will ever beat Dunkin’ for me.
