Throughout my drawing class FAS 120, we worked on learning how to do gesture drawings, a type of sketch where you quickly capture the gesture of the subject. One of our more recent projects was a sustained gesture drawing, where we focused on creating that gesture sketch, but with more time and detail. Our subject had to be a person or animal and so I chose a deer. I’ve never drawn a deer before, but this drawing technique helped me to expand my drawing skills to be able to draw anything. By understanding and practicing sustained gesture drawings, I’m confident that I can draw anything I want to, and I’m excited to see what I can create the next time I try it out.
