Club spotlight: Little Theatre

By: Christianna Konczal, Features Contributor

Raise your hand if you’ve heard of “Twelve Angry Jurors” — if you can’t, you’re in the right place! This semester, Canisius University’s very own Little Theatre presents the live production based on a televised CBS play that aired in 1954. Essentially, “Twelve Angry Jurors” showcases a philosophical and ethical debate regarding whether or not someone is guilty of murder. Clear your calendars from Oct. 26 to Oct. 28 to be sure that you don’t miss a great show!

Directors Michael Dobrasz and Matthew Robertson have since held auditions on Sept. 12 and 13 and have already begun working tirelessly to put together a hopefully extraordinary show for their directing debut.

Readers familiar with Canisius University might be wondering where Little Theatre performs after the tragic storm that left Lyons Hall in a state of disarray. An executive board member from Little Theatre ensured that despite the loss of their regular stage, the club is remaining active and even considered to be thriving. There are ample alternate performance locations scattered throughout campus, as well as the Buffalo area — and if all of those options are depleted, it was vocalized that the production will be held in the Quad… and in the snow. You know what they say: “The show must go on, right?” Little Theatre has no doubts that the show will, in fact, go on.

Due to the damages that occurred in Lyons Hall, the home of Little Theatre, the club has faced some unforeseen financial struggles regarding the loss of props and costumes. Little Theatre is currently accepting any kinds of donations so that they can continue with their passion of bringing the theatre to life at Canisius.

If you have any questions about Little Theatre or how to get involved, there is an impressive executive board that is always willing to chat about a club that they hold near and dear to their hearts.
