A New World

People said I couldn’t do it.

I was alone with a dream,

Not a dollar to my name.

But I look down at the world I’ve made,

Pride coursing through my veins.

People said I couldn’t do it.

The stares were blinding,

Not sure if I will keep going.

But I look down at the world I’ve made,

A smile wide on my face.

People said I couldn’t do it.

I’m young in a harsh world,

Not sure what I’m doing.

But I look down at the world I’ve made,

Tears resting in my eyes.

People said I couldn’t do it.

To the world I was a fragile thing,

Not sure if I’d break.

But I look down at the world I’ve made,

The journey leaving my heart full.

People said I couldn’t do it.

They were wrong.

They’re always wrong.
