By Stephen Lapage, Sports Reporter

After one of the best starts in program history, women's lacrosse has dropped three-straight games, all three being conference opponents.

The Mount opened the scoring in the game with a goal on the Women-Up opportunity early into the contest. Shortly after, theyadded a second goal, firing one past sophomore goaltender Jody Chu.  Graduate student Paige Stachura cut the Mount lead to one as she was able to put one in for the Griffs. Senior Maddie Mazur was able to score on the free position to tie the game at two. Stachura was able to give Canisius a lead thanks to a jump shot from the right side of the net. The quarter would end with the Griffs up 3-2.

Stachura was able to complete her hat trick as she extended the Canisius lead to two goals and continued the four goal run. The Mountaineers were able put another one in to stop the Canisius run and cut the lead to one.  The game remained 4-3 as the half ended with the Griffs ahead.

Mount St. Mary’s scored the first game of the second half to tie the game at four. The Mountaineers were able to regain their lead after that as they capitalized on a free position opportunity. The Mount scored another goal to extend the streak to three straight goals. The quarter would end this way as the Mountaineers lead going into the fourth quarter, 6-4.

The Mount was able to/extend their six goal run as they were able to score under five minutes in the quarter. Freshman Maddie Fitzgerald was able to capitalize on a free-position shot to cut the Mountaineers lead to three, with just over three minutes remaining.
