The Iran War continues to rage in the Gaza Strip

Amid the conflicts in the Gaza Strip, tensions continued to rise this week. These attacks include the on–going war including the allied U.S. and Israel against Iran, as well as a civil war in Yemen.
According to Yemen’s government, on Oct. 15th, the prime minister and cabinet survived an attack on the al–Maashiq presidential palace in Aden. The attack consisted of at least six explosions near the palace. Yemen's health minister, Qasim Buhaibeh, said five people were killed and 16 were wounded in the attack. The casualties included guards and civilian employees and the Iran–backed Houthi’s claimed responsibility for them. However, the Agence–France Press (AFP) reported at least four deaths and 10 wounded people. This attack was the first attack on the palace since Yemen’s civil war sparked back to life in July.
According to the spokesperson for the Saudi–led coalition in Yemen, at least 20 people were killed and 333 were injured in attacks on King Khalid International Airport between Oct. 7 and Oct. 11. This was the deadliest attack in any Gulf Arab country since the start of the Iran war. In the attack, a missile struck Terminals 3 and 4, which were for domestic flights. This resulted in the suspension of airport operations following the attack.
Following the attacks, U.S. President Donald Trump said that he was considering joining Saudi attacks against the Houthi rebels saying, “what happened in Saudi Arabia is not acceptable.” An intervention by the U.S. could prompt Houthis to try to halt shipping through the Bab el–Mandeb Strait in the Red Sea, which would restrict the flow of oil out of the Persian Gulf.
This conflict comes before midterms, and is a fragile time for Trump and the Republican party. The Iran War has faced low approval from Americans due to its impact on inflation and high gas prices.
