On Nov. 15, Canisius’ very own a capella group, the CrescenDONTs, will perform their semesterly concert in Montante Cultural Center at 7 p.m. The theme of this semester's concert is “Once Upon a Tune.” The setlist features songs focused around storytelling, along with a handful of holiday songs.
The group features 14 talented singers who have been preparing since September for this show. The group has practiced twice a week, all putting in the work to memorize at least eight songs so that they can perform.
The DONTs are going to be hosting a food drive alongside their performance. They are accepting any and all non-perishable items. The group is going to bring all of the donations that they receive to Buffalo City Mission, a local nonprofit organization that offers emergency housing to individuals in need. The group is dedicated to helping the people who are in need, especially when they are losing the only things that might be keeping them eating.
“With SNAP benefits being rescinded, we wanted to be able to give back to the community that gives so much to us and we are doing that with our food drive,” commented Kaitlyn Belile, vice president of the group. She thought of the idea of accepting donations after scrolling through TikTok and seeing the number of people who were coming together to donate to their local food drives, and knew that the DONTs would be willing to support this cause.
The group cannot wait to be able to perform for everyone at Montante this Saturday and take all of the donations to the people who can use the support while the DONTs perform a group of people who need the care and love having visitors.
