Swimming and Diving Falls Short to St. Bonaventure

The men's and women's swimming and diving team was defeated by St. Bonaventure at the Burt Flickinger Aquatic Center in Buffalo, NY on Dec. 5.


Despite the loss, sophomore Sam Vidal led the men with a first-place finish in the 100 breaststroke. Vidal touched the wall first with a time of 58.49.


In the men’s 1000 freestyle, freshman Luke Critchlow had his first victory of the season with a time of 10:13.08. Following behind Critchlow was freshman Tom McCabe, taking home third with a time of 10:27.39.


Junior Bronson Benes took home first in the men’s 100 butterfly, with his total time being 51.31.


For the women, freshman Lauren Martin led the Griffs with her first victory of her collegiate career. Her time was 11:18.85 in the women’s 1000 freestyle. The Canisius women took over the top three spots in this event. In second place, freshman Mia McDonnell (11:23.93), followed by third place finisher, Ali Baltes (11:28.89).


The women also had great success in the 100 fly, with sophomores Maya Harrison taking home second (1:02.56) and Hannah Brainard in third (1:02.72).


The swimming and diving Griffs will pick back up after the new year at Ohio State University facing off against Cleveland State in a dual-meet competition on Jan. 5.
