Swim and Dive take a double loss against SUNY Geneseo

This past Saturday, the Men’s and Women’s Swim and Dive teams competed against SUNY Geneseo. The men’s team fell short with a final score of 154–137, as did the women, with a score of 160–139. 

On the women’s side, freshman Daphne Mead dominated, placing first out of all the girls and scoring 27 points for Canisius. Mead also placed first in all of her individual events, swimming a season best time of 2:06:41 in the 200-yard backstroke. She also had the top two swims of the meet in the 200-yard Individual Medley and the 200-yard backstroke. 

Senior Bailey Wiegand also showed out at the meet, swimming season best times in the 50, 100- and 200-yard butterflies. Senior Brenna McLaughlin also swam a season best in the 200-yard backstroke which was the fifth best swim of the meet. 

Sophomore Elliot Somers placed second out of all the men, and placed first in all of his individual events. Senior Bronson Benes also placed first in all of his individual events, and placed third out of all the men. 

The Griffs’ next meet is this Saturday against Binghamton University at the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center at 1 p.m.
