Santa Visits Summit!

One of my absolute favorite events of the year, specifically the holidays, is coming back around! The Santa event at the school my mom works for happens every first Saturday of December, and I get the opportunity to work at it every year. My mom is the principal at The Summit Center, a school for children with disabilities.

Every year, Santa comes to visit Summit so that these children can meet Santa without the added stimulation of having to go to the mall for a meet-and-greet. It is not a common thought for people around the holidays to think of the fact that a meet-and-greet would be a lot for children with disabilities. This incredible event allows these children to get the same experience as other children in a more accessible way.

The children and their families can get a photo with Santa, they can decorate cookies, make ornaments, do arts and crafts, play games in the gym, have snacks and there is a movie room that is usually playing an age-appropriate Christmas movie. My parents, siblings and I get the privilege to work the event and help these families experience Christmas in a fun but not overwhelming way.
