Canisius rowing concluded its 2025 fall season on Oct. 26 in Philadelphia, P.A. at the 55th annual Head of the Schuylkill.
Canisius came off impressive performances at the Yinzer Cup, with all three varsity eight shells finishing first in their respective heats with the first varsity eight shell coming in 29.6 seconds ahead of the next shell.
This year's Head of the Schuylkill saw 29 schools enter the competition, with Canisius participating for the fifth year.
The second and third varsity shells competed in a race of 54 boats, with the former finishing 25th with a time of 14:06.27, while the latter finished 34th with a time of 14:27.22. The varsity eight concluded the day, entering a race with 27 other boats and leaving in 18th with a time of 13:14.15.
Following the competition, Head Coach Matt Cosmann explained, “I am happy with today's results. As a team, we performed better than last year, and this was a deeper field. We know now where we are relative to a lot of crews we will see in the spring and can calibrate accordingly.”
The Griffs will begin their spring season on April 11, 2026 when they head to Cherry Hill, N.J. to compete in the Knecht Cup.
