The Canisius Golden Griffins lost a close matchup in their final game of the season to the Marist Red Foxes by a final score of 15–13.

The team stayed competitive against the Red Foxes, tying the game 11–11 in the third quarter, but couldn’t match Marist’s three-goal fourth quarter.

Faceoff specialist Micah Hanson continued his historic season with 24 faceoff wins, a single-game program record. The record breaks the previous mark of 22, set by Mike Moran in 2023 and tied by Hanson in 2024.

Attack TJ Buono scored four goals, matching his personal best, while midfielder Carson Christy set his career best for points with five.

The Griffs previously lost to a winless Manhattan on Saturday before their game against Marist. In that time, the three remaining playoff seeds were filled, meaning that Canisius was eliminated from playoff contention.

Head Coach Mark Miyashita expressed his contentment in the team's performance, noting that the team never stopped fighting, even though playoffs were out of the picture. “It was a situation where the guys could have just mailed it in,” said Miyashita, who also noted that they wanted to “send out the seniors in the best way possible.”

The men’s lacrosse team ends their season with a 2–6 record in MAAC play as Miyashita and returning Griffs look to course correct in 2027.
