Beginning next week, the Features section of The Griffin will debut a new series of interviews entitled Stories with Students and Strangers. This series will feature interviews and monologues, more or less, of people who I encounter on campus and the stories all of us have within.
I am hoping that this will be an interesting way to profile different people that normally wouldn’t have a platform to talk about themselves. Rather than it being a straightforward question and answer session, I am simply hoping that people will have a conversation with me and allow my words to be the frame to their picture, should they be willing to share.
Logistically, because I, as one person, can not encounter every person on campus, I will be sending emails to random groupings of people each week. To explain exactly what is going on, I am looking to talk to random people on campus and hear their stories.
Admittedly, this is a take on “Humans of New York” and how they introduce these incredibly authentic stories of the people of New York City. If you aren’t familiar with their work, I want you to take the time to read them, because they are some of the most emotional, raw and authentic accounts of life I have ever encountered. This is something that I have been wanting to do and I feel that the Features team will be able to do.
The only requirement for participation is that one – I don’t know you – and two, you are willing to have a chat. If you find yourself to be the recipient of one of my emails, I hope that you take a chance on it and give me ~twenty minutes of your day to let me get to know you. Let this be your “do it for the plot” moment. If you are interested in being featured, send me an email.
