A biology professor, Katie Costanzo, shares seven habits with Time magazine that will help pollinators survive during the winter. She hopes that people would not throw away their dead leaves and wood in the trash because it has insects that benefit the environment. This was proven to be true when she and her students collected trash bags of leaves and found over 25 families of insects in eight bags, including bees, beetles and lacewings.
A turtle with two heads is under the care of a wildlife center in Massachusetts, and was found in a nest in Wellfleet, Mass. The cause of its double head is said to be a developmental disorder of bicephaly, and officials stated that they plan to take care of the turtle for the time being.
Christa Pike, a woman put on death row in 1996 for being involved in torturing and killing a classmate; the first person on death row in Tennessee for more than 200 years. After being scheduled to be executed on Sept. 30, she remains alive after two failed lethal injections, which she made a religious challenge to because she was terrified of unnecessary pain, terror and disgrace. Adham Abughanem, a 29–year–old from Lackawanna, N.Y. was recently sentenced to 10 years in prison for participating in a kidnapping scheme with his father, Khaled Abughanem. They flew to Mexico to take their female relative, eventually ending in Yemen, where she was held for 16 months, expected to marry a man not of her choosing.
Three Cheektowaga, N.Y. police officers have been suspended after illegally using flock cameras for personal use. The three officers were caught trying to search for another employee's license plate for months, according to the police department. They’ve stated that they have taken the necessary measures so that any similar incidents in the future won't happen again.
