It is Griff Weekend this weekend. The Old Main Hughes Lot will be closed from 5 p.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Saturday. The Eastwood-Main Street lot [it will be open for Loyola only] will be closed from 5 p.m. Friday to 11 p.m. Saturday. The Frisch Circle will be closed all day Friday and Saturday.
For Griff Weekend, The Market at Old Main will be running special hours: 10 a.m.-3 p.m, though there will be no Tú Taco or Daily Bagel. The Social House will have brunch from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and dinner from 4-6 p.m. Unapologetic Coffee will also run special hours: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
It is officially Fat Bear week in Katmai National Park, Alaska [according to @nationalparksguide on Instagram]. Fat Bear week denotes when local bears in the park have bulked up for winter hibernation.
The Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historical Site is introducing guests to a hologram version of the president. The museum had the hologram developed in collaboration with Proto. Nicknamed “HoloTed,” guests can communicate with him in multiple languages and with closed captions.
Italy and Spain have sent navy ships to assist and protect the Global Sumud Flotilla. The Flotilla is en route to provide life-saving aid in Gaza. The decision from Italy comes from a massive strike from nearly 1 million workers in support of Gaza. Spanish Prime Minister Sánchez explained that Spanish support comes from the demand “that international laws must be complied with.” The Flotilla was attacked by Israel on Sept. 23. The crew aboard the Flotilla consists of activists, media, doctors, artists and clergy.
Griff Weekend events include alumni receptions and award ceremonies, volleyball and soccer games, a tailgate, Fall Fest and more. It will be taking place from Friday to Sunday.
