Griffs Golf Caps Off Season with 12th-Place Finish in Pennsylvania

The Canisius golf team wrapped up their season Oct. 10–12 in Lewisburg, Penn. at the Bucknell Invitational with a 12th-place finish of out 15. The team was able to improve their positioning by one spot by the end, as it finished in 13th the first two rounds. It was the Griffs’ best finish in a 54-hole tournament for this year’s campaign.

In round one, junior Shane Broad led the way for the Golden Griffins with a total score of 71. Senior Michael Wells carded a score of 73, while freshman Ryan Edholm and senior Mike Donner both offered a 78. These scores were part of Canisius’s composite mark of an even 300 for the first round.

In round two, Mike Donner shot a 68, while Broad ended up with a score of 73. Also contributing was freshman Ben Ramold with a 74 of his own. This allowed the Griffs to accomplish their best total round score of the tournament, which was 291.

Various Griffs contributed to the team’s total score of 296 for round three. Edholm led the charge for Canisius with a 72 to close out the tournament. The Griffs finished with an overall score of 887, good for 12th place. The team finished ahead of host Bucknell University, Veterans Golf Association and Wagner College. Army West Point took home the tournament championship with a total score of 840.
