Griffs break more records to conclude Indoor T/F Season

The Canisius Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track & Field team concluded their indoor season successfully at the ECAC/IC4A Indoor Track & Field Championships on March 1-3rd at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center.


Over the weekend, multiple records were once again accomplished by the Griffs as on the women’s side it was Senior Maura Jordan smashing her own program record time in the women's 400m run with a time of 56.86 and placing in 12th in the preliminaries. The DMR team consisted of Sophomore Jacqueline Appenheimer, Senior Maura Jordan, Senior Jules Jones and Junior Kayla Schmidt as the team broke a school record with a time of 11:52.90 placing themselves in 6th place.  


Graduate student Olivia Moran was able to qualify for the finals in the one-mile race, finishing in the preliminary round placing in 6th place with a time of 4:58.21. Junior Kayla Schmidt finished in 14th place in the preliminaries as she finished with the time of 5:01.16. The next day were the finals for the 1 mile race for Olivia Moran and it was a good race as she placed in 7th with a time of 4:57.72.  


On the men's side, graduate student Andrew Perreault had an impact on the first day of the competition as he competed in the one mile race placing 15th with a time of 4:11.57. He also took part in the 3,000 meter race on Sunday and placed 18th with a time of 8:25.86. Graduate student Tom Appenheimer competed in the 5,000m race where he finished in 9th place with a time of 14:32.75. The men's 4x800 relay race team of senior Ronan McDonald, sophomore Braden Tent, sophomore Joe Pivarunan and graduate student Dominic Clementi earned the 2nd best time in school history in this category placing in 7th with a time of 7:43.29.


Next for the Golden Griffins Track and Field team, they will head to the outdoors to start their season as the weather starts to change and feel like spring. The team will have a long awaited rest until the end of March where they will travel to the University of North Carolina State Campus in Raleigh, North Carolina to compete in the Raleigh Relays which goes on from March 27-29th.
