Chartwells provides Ramadan dinner

By: Delaney Hayden, Asst. News Editor

Beginning on Sunday, March 10, Chartwells Dining began providing a Ramadan dinner meal along with a breakfast pack for students observing Ramadan. This offering will be available at the Global Station and can be collected until 7 p.m. each evening. Students must swipe in for dinner and will receive a ticket to redeem at the Global Station for this meal. It is essential to sign up in advance to receive the meal, which can be done by emailing abruzzia@canisius.edu with your name and Student ID number.

Ramadan is a significant month of fasting, prayer, reflection and community. It commemorates the first revelation of the Qur’an to Prophet Muhammad and is observed by Muslims worldwide. During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, abstaining from food, drink and other physical needs to focus on spiritual growth, self-discipline and devotion to Allah. The meal provided by Chartwells Dining is designed to accommodate the special dietary needs and schedules of students observing Ramadan, ensuring they can fulfill their religious obligations while maintaining their academic routines.

Additionally, it's important to note that if a student signs up for the meal but fails to pick it up, both the breakfast and dinner meals will be deducted from their account. This policy ensures efficient use of resources and prevents food waste.
