Canisius Track continues their season at the SPIRE Institute D1 Midwest Open

The Canisius Track and Field team journeyed back to Akron, Ohio this week to compete in the SPIRE Institute D1 Midwest Open. 


Senior Kayla Schmidt placed third in the 3000-meter run, finishing in 10:06 – her college best. 


Junior Jacqueline Appenheimer placed in the top 10 in the 3000-meter run as well. Appenheimer finished in ninth place, running it in 10:21. Freshman Nadalie Latchaw was another top 10 finish. Latchaw placed eighth in the 5000-meter run, finishing in 19:08. 


For the men’s team, sophomore Joseph Capuzzo placed fourth in the 5000-meter, finishing in 15:01. Junior Kyle Urban also finished in the top 10, running the 3000-meter run in 8:35. 


The Griffs will compete next at the Penn State National from Jan. 31 to Feb. 1.
