The Canisius hockey team tied against the Army Black Nights in a shootout last weekend. The Griffs took the win, with senior Killian Kiecker-Olson and junior Walter Zacher both finding the back of the net in the shootout, while senior Chase Clark didn’t allow any goals on two shot attempts.

The team’s two goals during regulation were credited to senior Stefano Bottini and freshman Carter Anderson, each scoring their third goals of the season.

Bottini's first goal of the season was during a 4–2 win against St. Lawrence, while his second goal was the lone Canisius goal in a 4–1 loss against Bentley. It took Bottini just eight games to match his goal mark from last season, after appearing in 33 games last year.

Bottini attributes his success thus far to having more focus on the net and, “positioning myself in the right spots around the net to make sure I can either receive the puck from my teammates or get a rebound from a shot.” He is intentional about his time during practice, constantly trying to, “give 100% because I believe it elevates my game.” Bottini’s commitment to improving his play doesn't end once he’s off the ice, making sure to spend time with Assistant Coach Matt Hoover to break down game film.

The team will play next weekend in Fairfield, CT. against the Sacred Heart Pioneers.
