Canisius Swim and Dive splits their matches against Rochester and Siena

The Canisius men and women’s swim and dive to both recorded a win last weekend in their scrimmage against the University of Rochester. The men won by 106 points with a score of 200-94. While the women won by 124 points with a score of 209-85. The women lost to Siena College by 38 points with a score of 166-128.

The men's meet had outstanding performances from Sophomore Archie Minto and graduate student Liam O’Connell. Minto placed 1st in the 100 and 200 yard butterfly, as well as the 200 yard IM. O’Connell placed 1st in the 1,000 and 200 yard freestyles, and had a season best time of 4:43:71 in the 500 yard freestyle.

Freshman Joe Cooper went a personal best time of 1:45:28 in the 200 yard freestyle, as well as in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:44:44. Freshman diver Samual Nykamp placed first in both the 1 meter with a score of 312.45, and 3 meter dives with a score of 320.85, setting records during both dives.

Freshman Lana Janson again dominated the meet. Janson placed 1st in the 200 yard freestyle, as well as the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke. Senior Grace Van Buren set a season best time of 24:80 in the 50 yard freestyle. She also set a season best time in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:00:14.

Jordan O’Connor wasn’t far behind with 1st place wins in the 100 and 200 yard backstroke. Graduate student Adriana Bolender, set records at both the 1 meter with a score of 254.18 and 3 meter dives with a score of 274.43.

The Griffs’ next meet is Oct. 29 against SUNY Geneseo at 12pm in Geneseo, NY.
