I sat down with graduate student, Mekhi Edwards, to discuss his Canisius journey as well as his involvement with Buffalo Fashion Week. Edwards graduated from Canisius with a marketing degree in 2025 and was the commencement speaker at his graduation ceremony and is now pursuing his MBA at Canisius. Edwards is a valuable member of our campus community, having been involved with the American Marketing Association (AMA) club as the vice president of finance, as well as our Afro American Society. Edwards notably took part in the integrated marketing communication (IMC) masterclass that helps support sustainable projects in Kenya, Zambia and local businesses in Buffalo.

Edwards also holds a leadership role with Buffalo Fashion Week as their director of marketing. He has heavily assisted with Buffalo Fashion Week’s mission of empowering the arts scene here in Buffalo. Edwards is a part of a team that hosts various shows and events in our city. Buffalo Fashion Week has their fall show, Fashion On The Field II, coming up on Oct. 18, from 5-9 p.m. at Nardin Athletic Center. Fashion On The Field II is the second installment of Fashion On The Field, last year’s fall show. Buffalo has a strong sports presence and according to Edwards, we can expect an elevated Olympic vibe at this year's show. You can keep up with Buffalo Fashion Week on all social media platforms: @buffalofashionweek. Canisius students have the opportunity to purchase discounted tickets using the code: STUDENT25. Tickets can be purchased at: buffalofw.com/events.
