The Universal Appeal of James Bond

By Erik Schneider, Opinion contributor

After 60 years and 25 films, James Bond 007 has continued to thrill audiences worldwide. After setbacks from the global pandemic, the latest 007 movie “No Time To Die” finally arrived in theaters everywhere last fall. Daniel Craig has portrayed Ian Fleming’s legendary spy since 2006, but after the completion of the recent film, he decided to officially say goodbye to James Bond.

Since I was a teenager, I have been a big fan of the film franchise. My all time favorite actor to portray the character is Sir Sean Connery. Sir Sean Connery was the original 007 from 1962 to 1967, 1971 and 1983. Other actors followed in his footsteps: George Lazenby in 1969, Sir Roger Moore from 1973 to 1985, Timothy Dalton from 1987 to 1989, Pierce Brosnan from 1995 to 2002 and Daniel Craig from 2006 to 2020. My all time favorite movie of the franchise is Ian Fleming’s “You Only Live Twice” that came out in 1967.

Who will be the next James Bond for movie number 26? I think Idris Elba should portray the role. What do you think?
